What is Optimmune?

Optimmune is a sterile eye ointment that help treat KCS or dry eyes in dogs. This medication requires a prescription from your veterinarian.

For:

Dogs (no age or weight requirement)

Benefits:

• Reduces inflammation of the eye
• Can induce natural tear production for moisture

Side Effects:

Serious side effects are not to be expected with this medication. However if any side effects of the eyes occur, it may be one of the listed below.

• Burning
• Redness
• Tearing
• Discharge
• Pain
• Itching
• Stinging
• Blurring

If these side effects occur, continue the medication but talk to your veterinarian if they persist.

What should I discuss with my veterinarian before giving Optimmune to my pet?

Let your veterinarian know if your pet has any type of eye infection(s). Also inform your veterinarian if your pet is pregnant or lactating.

How should Optimmune be given?

They should be given as per the directions of your veterinarian. Make sure to wash your hands prior to using the ointment and keep the medicine stored at room temperature.

What happens if I miss giving a dose of Optimmune?

Give the missed dose as soon as possible. If it is close to the time of the next dose, just give it then, but do not do a double dose. Follow as scheduled.

What happens if I overdose my pet on Optimmune?

It is unlikely to overdose on this medication, but if that were to occur, wash the eye(s) with water and get emergency veterinarian treatment.

What should I avoid while giving Optimmune to my pet?

Make sure that the tube opening does not come into contact with any surfaces such as eyes or hands. The medication can cause blurred vision. Also avoid using any other eye medication unless otherwise instructed to by the veterinarian.

What other drugs will affect Optimmune?
